Steve Waugh Tattoo

My name is Steve Waugh, and I have been tattooing professionally since 1990.
I opened Ballistic Tattoo with Shawn Oliver in 1997. Over the years it has become one of the longest operating and most widely know studios in New Zealand
With over 28 years of experience in the industry, you are guaranteed to receive quality tattooing in a clean, friendly and professional environment. I am always happy to work with an individual to bring their ideas to life and leave them with a tattoo they will love and treasure.
From concept planning and design, right through to the finished piece, I am comfortable with all styles of tattooing. Whether you're after traditional, black & grey, colour work, portraits, pacifica tribal or anything in between, I have both the skill and passion to ensure you will be completely happy with your new tattoo...

New Tattoo Care

~ Ice pack ~
Ice pack your new tattoo if you can for at lest 10 -15 mins. as soon as possible.
This will minimize swelling, bruising, and cool down the skin.
~ Airing ~
Once you've finished with the ice pack, leave your new tattoo exposed to the air for around an hour. This will allow any small spots of blood to dry out.
~ Wash ~
After the tattoo has had time to settle and dry, give it a very gentle wash with warm water and a soft clean cloth. (do not use soap at this stage) This will remove any dry blood from the surface of the tattoo.
~ Don't Pick ~
After 3-4 days the tattoo will dry and start to lose a layer of dry flaky skin and surface ink. Do not pick or scratch the loose skin as this can pull the ink out of your tattoo.
~ Moisturize ~
I recommend the use of a mild skin moisturizer, Vaseline intensive care, nothing else...
This will help the flaky skin come off .
Use the moisturizer after 3 days with just a very light covering, to much will make the tattoo stay damp. (Apply once a day for 2 weeks)
~ Keep Dry ~
While your tattoo is drying out and flaking keep it as dry as you can .So just a quick rinse in the shower and no swimming or baths
The tattoo should be all flaked in about 10 to 12 days .then you can return to normal.
~ Sun Screen ~
Use a good sun screen on your tattoo over summer if you cant cover it .the suns uv can fade the inks.
